The Illinois State Police District 12 has recently released the law enforcement activity figures from the month of March. The troopers for District 12 were called 186 times for service and had initiated 1,728 incidents while in the field.
Law enforcement figures show that 884 citations and 856 written warnings were issued during the month of March. Of these, 473 citations were for speeding, as well as 8 DUIs, 99 seat belt citations, and 1 child restraint violations. 270 written warnings were for speeding and 37 criminal arrests were made. District 12 officers had helped 152 motorists, conducted 357 motor carrier inspections, and investigated 57 crashes. Of these, two were fatal vehicular accidents.
During the month of March, 450 of the citations and 327 of the written warnings were violations of the “Fatal Four”. The “Fatal Four” is the four most common causes of fatal vehicular accidents. These are speeding, driving while under the influence, failing to wear a seat belt, and distracted driving.
