The Legislative/Personnel Committee of the Whole moved to amend a section of the County Liquor Ordinance at their meeting on Monday.
The section of the liquor ordinance to which a proposed amendment was suggested allowed alcohol to be sold in the afternoon on Sundays. The proposed amendment would coincide with the City of Effingham’s liquor ordinance, in that alcohol sales would be allowed on Sundays from 6:00am to 1:00am on Monday.  The Committee voted unanimously to move the proposed amendment to the County Board for a final vote.
Additionally, Carl Baker represented the University of Illinois Extension Office and addressed the Committee regarding the continuance of funding for Fiscal Year 2018. In the past, the County has supported the Extension Office with funding in the amount of $94,000. The Committee voted unanimously to move the request to the County Board for a continuation of the funding.
Both items will be voted on by the County Board at their meeting on Monday, April 17th.
