The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce will hold a career fair on Wednesday, April 26th from 7:30am to 2:00pm at the Effingham Performance Center. Along with providing an opportunity for job seekers to meet potential employers, the career fair will provide all attendees with resume assistance, video tutorials on job-hunting, on-the-spot interviews, door prizes, and refreshments.
The results from a recent Skills Gap survey showed that a minimum of 1,000 new and replacement employees are needed in Effingham County. This career fair will provide employers with an additional way to recruit needed employees. Employers that exhibited at the 2016 Career Fair had positive remarks regarding the set up, location, quality of applicants, and the energy of the applicants and event.
Norma Lansing, President/CEO of the Effingham County Chamber stated, “The Chamber is dedicated to continuing research, assessments, analysis, and support of workforce readiness issues for our members. Having a qualified, trained, and accessible workforce is a primary need for both our new and existing businesses. In 2016 we created a new staff position, Director of Workforce Development, held by JoAnn Sasse Givens which is tasked with developing the relationships and programs needed to aid Effingham County in creating and maintaining a highly skilled workforce.”
Employers that are interested in exhibiting at the career fair can register at www.effinghamcountychamber.com or by calling the Chamber at 217-342-4147.
