(Chicago, IL) — Illinois political leaders are expressing skepticism about the possible impact of the GOP health care plan. Governor Rauner says based on his initial examination of the bill, it doesn’t look good for Illinois. The plan would eliminate the tax credits that now help about three-fourths of Illinoisans who get covered through the Obamacare exchange. The plan would also eventually drop funds for the 650-thousand Illinoisans who gained their coverage through Medicaid expansion. Rauner says he’s concerned about Illinoisans being left in the lurch without access to affordable care. Mayor Emanuel blasted the plan for cutting access to health care for many people while providing a tax cut to insurance companies.
