The Teutopolis School Board accepted resignations and approved a retirement at their meeting on Monday, February 13th.
The Board accepted resignations from Pomerettes Sponsor, Dani Ruholl, and Junior High Cross Country Coach, Jeannie Gaddis. They also approved Cathy Esker’s retirement, which will be effective following the end of the 2016-2017 school year. The Board also approved the 2017-2018 school year calendar, with a start date for teachers on Wednesday, August 16th, and a start date for students on Thursday, August 17th. The 17th will be a half-day of student attendance, with full-attendance starting on the 18th of August. The Board also approved the Senior Class Trip for April 26th and set the tentative date for Graduation on Sunday, May 14th at 2:30pm. The Junior High Promotion was tentatively set for Thursday, May 18th at 7:30pm.
Additionally, the Board awarded multiple bids for repair work on the Junior High and High School buildings. They awarded the security work bid to Security Alarm from Salem in the amount of $38,500. The roof work for the Junior High and the High School 1959 shop area bid was awarded to Geissler Roofing from Belleville for $529,290, while the masonry bid for the Junior High was awarded to Kross Masonry from Newman for $8,041. No action was taken by the Board regarding the roof work bid for the High School.
Before ending their meeting, the Board discussed the need to review the procedures for bus transportation, as well as the possibility of seat belts on the buses. This discussion comes after the High School Boys Basketball team and the Cheerleading squad were involved in a school bus accident on Friday, February 10th.
