(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Senate President John Cullerton says there will be a balanced Illinois budget by next year. The Democrat told the “State Journal-Register” editorial board yesterday that he’ll show Senate Democrats a draft for the state to have a balanced budget by June 30th, 2018. Cullerton and Minority Leader Christine Radogno have negotiated a package of bills designed to put an end to the state’s two-year budget stalemate. The bills cover everything from pension reforms to an income tax hike.
