The Effingham City Council is set to meet on Tuesday, beginning at 6 p.m., at City Hall to discuss the site plan for the proposed Speedway Truck Stop on Fayette Avenue. The project, which was recommended by the City Plan Commission, has generated concern from residents of Rollin Hills Subdivision and local businesses owners. Concerns include an increase in traffic congestion on Fayette, as well as additional noise generated by an increased number of trucks in the area. More on that here!
The City Council will also be introduced to four new police officers joining the force and a new city customer service representative. Fire Chief Joe Holomy will also swear in a new part-time firefighter.
Discussion will also be had on the city’s rarely enforced amusement tax policy.
