EFFINGHAM VS. CHARLESTON
Effingham knocked off fellow undefeated team Charleston 57-46. The game was tied at 16 after the first quarter but Effingham outscored Charleston 17-3 in the second quarter to help get the win. Effingham was led by Carsyn Fearday who had 13 points. Effingham also got 12 points from Miranda Fox and 12 points from Shelby Myers, who also had 9 rebounds. Charleston was led by Allyson O’Dell who scored 17. Effingham is now 6-0 on the season and will host St. Anthony on Saturday at 10 AM.
SOUTH CENTRAL VS. WEBBER TOWNSHIP
South Central was able to hold off Webber Township for their first win of the season 37-33. South Central had at 21-10 lead at halftime. The South Central lead was diminished to 29-25 after three quarters. After both teams scored 8 points in the fourth quarter South Central was able to hold on. South Central was led by Alannah Sigrist who had 20 points and 11 rebounds. South Central also got a big night from Abby Hahn who added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Emma Moser led Webber Township with 19 points and 11 rebounds. South Central will next head to Neoga on Monday.
TEUTOPOLIS VS. PANA
Raegan Drees hit a wide open layup at the buzzer to give Teutopolis the 55-53 win over Pana. Teutopolis trailed for the first two quarters but came back before Pana made a comeback of their own. Pana was down 53-48 with just 1:41 left in the game before they tied but the game with just 21 seconds left. That is when Teutopolis got the ball to Drees who hit the buzzer beater. Teutopolis was led by Shelby Thompson had had 13 points. Teutopolis also got 9 points from both Sadie Bueker and Drees, as well as 10 points from Macy Michels off the bench. Pana was led by Daylee Denton who had 17 points. Teutopolis is now 7-2 on the season and will host Salem on Monday.
NEWTON VS. PARIS
Newton was able to open Little Illini Conference play with a 57-47 win against Paris. Newton was led by Ariel Richards who had 15 points. Richards was able to get her 1,000th career point in the first quarter. Newton also got 12 points from Abby Frohning and 10 from Grace Hartrich. Paris was led by Isaf who had 15 points. Newton is now 5-3 on the season and will host Edwards County on Monday.
ST. ANTHONY VS. WINDSOR/STEW-STRAS
St. Anthony were able to force 31 turnovers in their 51-25 win against Windsor/Stew-Stras. St. Anthony was led by Abby Weis who scored 12 points. Clair McHugh also had 10 points for St. Anthony. Megan Schlechte had 9 points to lead W/SS. W/SS falls to 0-8 on the season and will play at Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on Monday. St. Anthony, who is 6-2 on the season, will face unbeaten Effingham on Saturday at 10 AM.
NORTH CLAY VS. NEOGA
Neoga took the lead early and never looked back beating North Clay 57-42. Neoga led 14-9 after the first quarter, 26-18 at the half, and 44-24 at the end of the third quarter. Jaycie Roy and Ashley Dryden both scored 16 points for Neoga. Neoga also got 12 points from Blair Banning. North Clay was led by Taylor Jones who had 11 points and Darcy Fender who added 10 points. North Clay is now 1-3 on the season and will head to Dieterich on Thursday. Neoga is 9-1 on the season and will host South Central on Monday.
BROWNSTOWN/ST. ELMO VS. DIETERICH
Brownstown/St. Elmo was able to knock off Dieterich at home 68-47. Dana Shelton led Brownstown with 23 points. Brownstown also got 19 points from Elizabeth Johnson in the win. Anna Shadle had 18 points for Dieterich. Dieterich falls to 1-9 on the season and will play at Oblong Monday. B/SE is now 7-2 and will host Martinsville on Monday.
ALTAMONT VS. CASEY-WESTFIELD
Altamont was able to hold off Casey-Westfield for the 65-56 win. Altamont led 16-8 after the first quarter and 33-25 at the half. Casey-Westfield made it 45-43 after three quarters but 20 points in the fourth quarter from Altamont gave them the win. Altamont was led by Keidron Duckwtiz who had 14 points, JoAnna Schultz who had 12 points, and Leah Mayhaus who had 11 points. Casey was led by Cox who had 13 points. Altamont is now 5-4 on the season and will host St. Anthony on Monday.
MARTINSVILLE VS. CHBC
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City got a big game from Freshman Jaelyn Robertson in the 56-43 win over Martinsville. Robertson scored 19 points in the win. Martinsville was led by Truelove who scored 16 points. CHBC improves to 5-3 on the season and will host Windsor/Stew-Stras on Monday.
CUMBERLAND VS. ARTHUR-LOVINGTON/ATWOOD-HAMMOND
Cumberland kept it close for a quarter but ALAH was too strong getting the 52-17 win. Cumberland and ALAH were tied at 11 after the first quarter but Cumberland had quarters of 2, 0, and 4. Cumberland was led by Zoe Marti who had 8 points. Cumberland falls to 0-7 and will head to Shelbyville on Monday.
