(Springfield, IL) — Legislation is being proposed in Springfield to prevent tax hikes from being rushed through during a lame duck session. Two separate bills sponsored by state Representatives David McSweeney and Jack Franks would require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax hike during such a session. They plan to introduce the bills in committee today with the hope of getting them passed by the end of this week’s veto session.
