The Effingham County Board Approved three new committee appointments at Monday’s meeting. County Board Member Karen Luchtefeld was appointed to the Board of Health along with Jackie Witges and County Board Member David Campbell was appointed to the South Central Regional Planning Commission.
The Board also approved a $20,224 expense to install Time Clock Plus, a program that includes a digital time clock for county employees. The program will integrate with the county’s current payroll program, CIC. According to County Board Chairman Jim Niemann, adding the software will help put the county in compliance with new federal regulations and could save money in the long run.
The program will also require an annual $3000 maintenance fee after it has been installed.
The board also approved Liability Insurance renewal with CIRMA with 4.41 percent increase in rates. Health Alliance Health Insurance was also renewed with a 4 percent rate increase. Niemann said that he was pleased with the relatively small rate increases.
A presentation was heard from David Faller, of West & Company, about setting up a three year audit schedule. Doing so would save the county money as the three year rate would be locked in and would not be increased due to outside factors. The board decided to table the decision to be revisited at their annual budget cleanup meeting on November 30th.
The board also voted to add to vacant properties back to the tax roll in the county.
