The Teutopolis Unit #50 Board of Education voted to approve a tentative tax levy at Monday’s meeting. The actual levy will be voted on after a Truth in Taxation hearing on December 19, at 6:30 p.m., prior to the normal board meeting. A hearing is required because the district is requesting over a five percent increase from last year’s levy.
The board also approved a change to the way that basketball tickets are distributed. The change allows the 18 members of the Sportsbacker Steering Committee to purchase one ticket just like gold seat ticket holders because of the large amount of time they spend supporting Teutopolis Athletics.
A three year contract with the web-platform company Apptegy was approved. They will develop the district’s website and create a mobile app for parents, students, and staff. The board also agreed to go out to bid on roof projects for TJHS and THS, approved the purchase of two new water heaters from Buhnerkempe Plumbing & Heating, and agreed to advertise for a part-time clerical position in the Unit Office.
TGS Principle Angie Sheehan also gave a presentation on starting a preschool program. More discussion will be held at the December Board Meeting.
