Two people were injured in a one vehicle crash on Wednesday morning on Interstate 70 in Fayette County. Illinois State Police reports say that a vehicle driven by 22 year old Alexandra V. Rayburn of Chicago was traveling east near mile post 76 (St. Elmo exit) when State Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove off the south shoulder near the St. Elmo exit. The vehicle then traveled about 125 yards across a field and up an embankment leading to the I-70 overpass. The vehicle overturned and came to rest at the top of the embankment, near the overpass guardrail. Both the driver and a passenger, 21 year old Abigail Margaret Schrantz of Gurnee, were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham for treatment of injuries. State Police issues several citations to both the driver and the passenger. Rayburn is facing pending charges of Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Improper Lane Usage, Reckless Driving, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a driver, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Use of Intoxicating Compound. Schrantz is facing pending charges of Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Use of Intoxicating Compound.
