(Chicago, IL) — Down the ballot from the presidential contest on today’s ballot is the battle between Governor Bruce Rauner and Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. Rauner has spent at least 15-million-dollars of his own money along with millions from two other GOP donors to drive a wedge into the Democrats control of both houses of the General Assembly. If Republicans pick up four seats in the Senate and just one in the House, the Democrats will no longer have veto-proof majorities — a situation that has blocked Rauner’s efforts to move forward with his so-called “turnaround” agenda.
