Effingham City Commissioner Kevin Willis will be the newest member of the Ambulance Oversight Committee after Thursday’s Tax and Fiance Committee meeting, pending a full County Board vote next week. Committee member Mike DePoister said the the addition made sense as the city uses the same ambulance service as the county.
Willis’ term will be set two years or until he’s off the city council, whichever is first. In other action the board also voted to approve a SCIRP & DC request (South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission) of $3,631.00 Per Capita. SCIRP assists Effingham and surrounding counties with services such as writing grants.
The Committee also discussed the possibility of using a mass alert system for the county. Communications Supervisor Tina Daniels looked into using a system called Everbridge, currently used by the City of Effingham. The Committee decided to do more research on possible mass notification services for the future.
Effingham Pubic Transportation was also given authorization to pursue the 5311 Grant. A resolution was passed to collect delinquent taxes from two properties in Mason.
