The Effingham County 911 Board approved the first read through of the FY17 budget. The Board will have a revenue from the state of approximately $652,000 to operate for FY17 and intends to stay in the black with spending. Board Member and Interim Effingham Police chief Mike Schutzbach said that the board only spends their budget on the necessities.
The budget will be voted on by the board next month. The board also agreed to add a new “cyber liability” to their insurance policy. The yearly $758 plan covers the county from liability if sensitive personal information is stolen from their database.
The Bylaw Committee is working on various updates in language for the board and is expected to changes to present at the November meeting.
