Mattoon would then come out and score three touchdown in the third quarter to take a 27-0 lead. Effingham would finally get on the board with a Hill 2 yard run with 15.4 seconds left in the third. Mattoon would score in the fourth on a 1 yard touchdown run to make it 34-6. Effingham responded with a Hill 3 yard touchdown and a Hill 46 yard fumble recovery to make it 34-19. Mattoon however would score with 2:32 left in the game on a 97 yard interception return.
