Local Sports Results from October 4th:
BASKETBALL
DIETERICH VS. MARTINSVILLE
Martinsville was able to defeat Dietrich in 8th grade basketball 42-31. Martinsville was led by Parcez who had 15 points and Propst who had 13. Dieterich was led by Bloemer who had 11 and Wendtz who had 8 points. In 7th grade basketball it was Dieterich defeating Martinsville 36-25. Martinsville was led by Propst who scored 11 points and Kannmacher who had 7 points. Dieterich was led by Boerngen who had 12 points.
CHBC VS. SACRED HEART
CHBC 8th grade team was able to defeat Sacred Heart 44-20. The win improves CHBC to 4-1 on the season. CHBC was led by Madison who had 25 points. CHBC will next face Sigel St. Michael on Thursday. CHBC 7th grade team was also able to defeat Sacred Heart 38-15. CHBC was led by Gracie who had 15 points. CHBC is now 3-2 on the season.
TENNIS
TEUTOPOLIS VS. ST. ANTHONY
St. Anthony won a close tennis match against Teutopolis 5-4. St. Anthony won 4 out of the 6 singles matches including one that went to three sets. Teutopolis won 2 out of the 3 doubles matches as two of the matches went to 3 sets. Teutopolis falls to 10-2 on the season.
EFFINGHAM VS. GREENVILLE
Effingham lost to Greenville 7-2. Effingham was only able to win one of the six single matches. Effingham also only won one of the three doubles matches.
SOCCER
ALTAMONT VS. ARTHUR-LOVINGTON
Altamont were able to defeat Arthur-Lovington 2-0. Neither team scored a goal in the first half. Altamont got on the board with 27:21 left in the second half with a Penalty Kick goal. A second goal with 15:41 left in the game sealed the deal. Altamont is now 9-7-1 on the season. Altamont JV team were able to win 9-0. The JV team are now 3-4-1 on the season.
VOLLEYBALL
ALTAMONT VS. SEBT
Altamont Varsity Volleyball team got the win against SEBT in two sets. Altamont won game one 25-22 and game two 25-20. The win improves Altamont to 10-10 on the season. In JV action it was SEBT getting the win in three sets. Altamont won set one 25-20. SEBT came back and won set two 25-21. SEBT were able to win the third set 27-25. Altamont JV team is now 6-6 on the season.
EFFINGHAM VS. CHARLESTON
Effingham Varsity Volleyball got the win in two sets against Charleston. Effingham won game one 25-19 and game two 25-14. The win improves Effingham to 4-14 on the season and 3-3 in the Apollo. Effingham faces Mattoon next on Thursday. The Effingham JV team also got the win against Charleston in three sets. Effingham lost the first set 20-25 but came back and won set two 25-17 and set three 25-22. The win improves Effingham JV to 7-5 on the season.
WSS VS. ST. ANTHONY
WSS was able to defeat St. Anthony in two sets. WSS won set one 25-18 and set two 25-19. The win improves WSS to 14-3 on the season and 8-0 in conference play. The WSS Varsity has a hard challenge this weekend as they will head to the Shelbyville Pana Invite. In JV action it was St. Anthony getting the win in three sets. St. Anthony won set one by a score of 24-22. WSS was able to win set two 25-22. St. Anthony however was able to get the win 28-26. WSS JV team is now 8-7 on the year. The JV team will next play on the 10th at Arcola.
FOOTBALL
EFFINGHAM VS. TAYLORVILLE
Effingham was able to defeat Taylorville in Fresh/Soph Football 20-14. Effingham was led on offens by Shackelford who was 10 for 13 for 109 yards and 1 passing and 1 rushing TD. Brown had 157 yard rushing and a touchdown. Phillips had 5 catches for 59 yards and a touchdown.
CROSS COUNTRY
JR HIGH CROSS COUNTRY
St. Anthony were able to get the win at the three team boys meet with a team score of 15. CHBC finished second with 40 points and Okaw Valley didn’t have enough runners to score. Brian Dust from St. Anthony was the fastest with a 11:13.02. Second was Walsh from St. Anthony followed by Faber from St. Anthony, Drew Dust from St. Anthony, and Willenborg from St. Anthony. In the girls meet it was CHBC getting the win with 23 points. Second place went to St. Anthony followed by Okaw Valley. Burks from CHBC was the fastest with a time of 14:39.75. Second was Bartels from CHBC followed by Lorton from CHBC, Faber from St. Anthony and Willenborg from St. Anthony.
