In observation of National Fire Prevention month this October, the Effingham Fire Department held an Open House at Station 1.
The firefighters at Station 1 heldĀ this Open House to let the public know the various resources available with the Effingham Fire Department, in the case of an emergency. The residents of Effingham are invited to Station 1 to view the various fire trucks, tools and equipment available.
According to 2nd Lieutenant, Howard Janis, various activities are also available for children at the Open House.
National Fire Prevention Month focuses on the prevention of fires by bringing awareness to the public of the various fire hazards. Fire departments also help individuals with forming an emergency response plan. Many local fire departments also visit schools, teaching the students emergency preparedness skills.
Effingham Fire Department Station 1 is located at 505 W. Fayette Ave in Effingham.
