One was killed early Tuesday morning on the south tri-level of I-57/I-70 after semi rolled over off the roadway.
The Effingham Fire Department responded to the accident at approximately 1:35 Tuesday morning. The truck was driven by 51-year-old Rudy W. Cobb, of Burna, Kentucky. Cobb lost control of the vehicle while traveling south on I-57, near milepost 157, striking the west guardrail. The truck proceeded to move along the guardrail for several hundred feet before overturning onto its top and sliding down an embankment. Cobb was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and died from the resulting injuries.
Cobb was pronounced dead on the scene by the Effingham County Coroner.
