(Effingham) — Teutopolis State Bank Fund has awarded $500 to the Andrew Gobczynski Big Heart Foundation. The grant will be used to fund heart testing for sophomore athletes at Effingham County Schools.
The Big Heart foundation was established in honor of Teutopolis High School and Eastern Illinois University basketball player Andrew Gobczynski who passed away in December 2014 after suffering a cardiac incident caused by an enlarged heart, a condition he wasn’t aware of. The foundation helps provide health screenings along with scholarships to area students who have overcome adversity and exemplify good citizenship.
