(Effingham) — The Effingham County GOP opened their headquarters ahead of November’s upcoming general election. The seasonal office is located at the intersection of 4th and Jefferson in the Zahner Building, across the street from the County Building. Effingham County Republican Chairman Rob Arnold said that the local GOP has been using the site for several years due to it’s location near the County Building and its affordable rent.
According to Arnold, the headquarters serves several functions for local Republicans, including a place to pick up campaign signs.
Residents can also register to vote on-site if precinct committeemen are present. Arnold also said that the headquarters are a source of information for voters, and that due to the close proximity of the Democrat site, some Democrats will even stop by. The office is staffed by volunteers and residents can drop in to sign up for shifts.
The headquarters will stay open during election season Tuesdays-Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to Noon.
