In Tuesday’s Effingham City Council meeting, it was confirmed that Meijer is the big box store moving into Effingham,
Meijer is a super-center chain store that is estimating to bring between 200 and 300 jobs to the Effingham area. In the meeting, representatives from the Meijer franchise told the city council about their history of being very active with local foodbanks. The representatives also told the council that 6% of the net profits for Meijer is given to non-profit charities.
Also coming to Effingham is Bella’s Bistro. We spoke to Rocky Balo, a representative of Bella’s Bistro. Bella’s Bistro is an Italian Bistro.
We also asked Balo what Bella’s Bistro is going to bring to the Effingham Community.
The representatives of Bella’s Bistro had applied for a Class B liquor license through the city. Because Bella’s Bistro wants to sell Italian wines as well, the representatives needed to change their application to a Class B1 liquor license.
In addition, Effingham Fire Chief Holomy was recognized by Effingham Mayor Bloemker for his completion of the 4 year National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
