Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker recently proclaimed the week of September 17th-23rd Constitution Week in Effingham.
“I consider organizations such as the Daughters of the American Revolution to be the torch bearers of our hard-fought and earned traditions, particularly that of promoting adherence to the U.S. Constitution,” said Mayor Bloemker. “THANK YOU for all the effort and dignity brought to the Effingham community by the Ann Crooker St. Clair DAR Chapter.”
National Constitution week was signed into law by President Eisenhower on August 2, 1956 and the U.S. Constitution will celebrate it’s 229th birthday this year. It is the oldest constitution still in active use today.
