The Dieterich Unit #30 School Board met on Monday, September 12th.
During Monday’s meeting, the Board made several personnel changes. Anna Shadle and Makayla Poe were hired as part-time janitorial workers; and Janet Nisbett and Lauren Garbe were hired as part-time workers for the After School Program. The Board also accepted a resignation from High School Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Coach, Jordan Michels.
The Board also approved two field trips. The FFA will be taking a trip to the National FFA Convention. The convention will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 19th through the 21st. Also, the Band, Chorus, and Art clubs will be taking a trip to the Fox Theater in St. Louis for a performance of the Lion King on April 20th. Purchasing of new uniforms for the Junior High Cheerleaders was also approved.
During the Principal’s Report, Jr/Senior High School principal, Kevin Haarman, and Elementary School principal, Kathy Pattenaude, reported that Grandparents Day was a major success. More than 400 grandparents attended to spend time in class and at recess with their grandchildren, with day ending after a lunch with the kids. An increase in enrollment was also reported. The District saw an increase of 13 more students enrolled at Dieterich when compared with last school year.
