Effignham County Clerk Kerry Hirztel is teaming up with the Effingham Public Library to help get people registered to vote. A Voter Registration Drive will held from 4-7 p.m. at the Effingham Public Library on Monday and Wednesday of this week.
To register you must be a US citizen, at least 18 years-old, and must be a resident of the precinct for at least 30 days before election day. Two forms of identification are required and at least one must show your current address.
Hirtzel suggested that voting is a way to have to take action in politics.
If you miss the voter registration drive this week you can always contact the County Clerk’s Office at 217-342-6535. Hirtzel also said that people can register and vote on the same day, though he prefers that people register ahead of time.
For more information on the Voter Registration Drive, contact the library at 217-342-2464.
