The Cardinals got on the board first with a Wong sacrifice fly in the fourth. The Cardinals added another run in the fifth on a Gyorko solo home run to take a 2-0 lead. The Brewers got on the board in the sixth on a Gennett RBI single to make it 2-1. The Cardinals added a run in the seventh on a Wong solo home run to make it 3-1. The Brewers came back scoring 4 runs in the seventh thanks to an Arcia solo home run, a RBI double by Villar, a RBI single by Gennett, and a bases loaded walk to Pérez to make it 5-3. The Cardinals tied the game in the eighth on a Grichuk two run home run. The Cardinals took the lead on an error by Villar.
Neither starting pitcher got the decision. Cardinals starting pitcher Martínez gave up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 13 and walking 2 over 6 innings. Socolovich got the win in relief. Brewers starting pitcher Davies gave up 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 9 over 6 and 1/3 innings. Thornburg took the loss in relief.
