The Cardinals had a 2-0 lead but couldn’t hold on falling to the A’s 3-2.
The Cardinals got on the board first with a Grichuk solo home run in the second. The Cardinals added another run in the third when Piscotty reached first on a throwing erroer making it 2-0 Cardinals. The A’s came back and scored a run in the fifth on a bases loaded walk making it 2-1. The A’s added two more runs in the eighth thanks to a Muncy RBI ground out and an Eibner sacrifice fly to make it 3-2.
Neither starting pitcher got the decision. A’s starter Neal gave up 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 3 over six innings. Coulombe got the win in relief. Cardinals starter Reyes gave up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 4 and walking 4 over 4 and 2/3 innings. Bowman took the loss in relief.
