The Mets got on the board first with a sacrifice fly by Flores in the second. The Mets added two runs in the fourth on a De Aza two run single to make it 3-0. The Mets added four runs in the fifth thanks to an error by Garcia and a three run home run by De Aza to make it 7-0. The Cardinals scored two runs in the sixth on a Moss two run home run. The Mets added another run in the eighth on a Cabrera RBI single making it 8-2. The Cardinals added two runs in the eighth on a Moss solo home run and a Garcia RBI single to make it 8-4. The Mets added two runs in the ninth on a Rivera two run single to make it 10-4. The Cardinals added two runs in the bottom of the ninth thanks to a Gyorko and Piscotty solo home runs making it 10-6.
Lugo got the win improving to 1-2 on the season. Lugo gave up 2 hits while striking out 5 and walking 3 over 5 innings. Lugo had to leave in the sixth due to a right leg cramp. Wainwright took the loss falling to 9-8 on the season. Wainwright gave up 7 runs (2 earned runs) on 9 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2 over 5 innings.
