The Cubs fell to the Rockies 11-4.
The Rockies got on the board with 7 runs in the first thanks to a Arenado three run home run, Wolters two run double, and De La Rosa RBI single. The Rockies added three more runs in the fourth on another Arenado three run home run making it 10-0. The Cubs got on the board with a Russell solo home run in the fifth and another solo home run in the seventh to make it 10-2. LeMahieu added a solo home run in the eighth to make it 11-2. The Cubs got two runs in the ninth on RBI’s from Zobrist and Soler.
De La Rossa got the win improving to 8-7 on the season. De La Rossa gave up 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 6 and walking 1 over 8 innings. Hammel took the loss falling to 13-6 on the year. Hammel gave up 10 runs on 10 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2 over 3 and 1/3 innings.
The Cubs start a series against the Padres at 9:10.
