The Effingham County Board met in special session Friday morning to hear an update on litigation with Altamont Ambulance. The company is suing the county for attempting to change an ordinance that would allow other ambulance services to operate in the area, which they claim is a breach of contract.
Attorney Chis Koester is representing the County and didn’t have much to say on Friday about the mediation process between the two parties other than that “there was a possibility of action” from the Board, but none was taken. Since a June 16th mediation date with retired Judge Patrick Hitpas, now a private mediation attorney, Koester says there has been several phone calls with both parties and the current trial judge Allen Lolie as they try to reach an agreeable resolution.
