Teutopolois High School Junior Audra Breer was recognized by the Teutopolis Board of Education for earning the Volunteer Service Award. The award is a presidential recognition of service to one’s community.
Audra put in 110 hours of volunteer service with various organizations to earn the award. Connie Deters, a math and PE teacher and Sponsor of the district’s “Volunteens” Group, presented Audra with a medal and read an excerpt out of a letter from President Obama at Monday’s Board of Education Meeting.
The hours for the award are recorded over a 12 month time period and must be for an approved certifying organization. According to Deters, many of Audra’s hours were spend doing church related volunteer work.
Audra will graduate this school year and hopes to attend Princeton.
