HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory received accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), following a recent on-site inspection.
During the CAP accreditation process, the inspectors examined the laboratory’s quality control of procedures and their records for the past two years. Also inspected was the staff qualifications, facilities, equipment, safety procedures and records, and the overall management of the laboratory. The United States Federal Government recognized that the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is just as strict, or even more so, than their own inspection program.
The Laboratory’s director, Steven Jones, MD, said this of the national recognition, “This accreditation is a demonstration of our commitment to ensuring we follow the highest quality and safety standards for the patients who need St. Anthony’s laboratory services, whether at the hospital or at one of our Diagnostic Centers.”
HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory is one of the more than 7,700 CAP-accredited laboratories, worldwide.
