Four male juveniles were recently charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft, in connection with a string of crimes reported in Effingham County.
The crimes had occurred in the Rolling hills neighborhood of Effingham and around Watson during July. On the night of July 5th, more than one dozen vehicles in Rolling Hills had been burglarized. Also, numerous outbuildings and sheds in Watson were burglarized throughout the month.
Effingham County State’s Attorney Bryan Kibler stated, “We believe these juveniles were responsible for at least twenty thefts and burglaries during the month of July alone. This was a massive crime spree. I appreciate the public’s patience during the period of investigation, and we will now bring these juveniles to justice.”
The four juveniles have already made their initial court appearances at the Effingham County Circuit Court for the pending charges.
Kibler said,” Since all the suspects are juveniles, I am limited in what information can be released; however, I promise that this situation has been a major focus of law enforcement in the area and we have already noticed a decrease in the number of property crimes.”
These arrests were the result of a joint investigation by the Effingham Police Department and the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department.
