Dr. Donald Bunnell of Clay County Hospital in Flora was the recipient of the Pinnacle Award for a Physician that shows excellent patient care and focus. Dr. Bunnel is one of only 58 other health care workers to receive the award nationwide.
The award celebrates great customer service, the quality of care for patients, and professional relations in the workplace. Amanda Basso, President and CEO of Clay County Hospital Said, “I am so proud to have Dr. Bunnell back on staff here at Clay County Hospital. His dedication to the residents of Clay County is beyond measure. He is extremely dedicated to providing excellent care to area nursing home residents which is exactly the service which Clay County Hospital seeks to provide to all of our patients.”
Dr. Bunnell has been with the hospital since the 1960’s. He thanked Basso for opportunity to serve the community. “I can not thank President Basso and the Hospital Clinic people enough for giving me the opportunity to take care of the nursing home patients for the Clinic. The job has been such a blessing to me as I have had to change my life-style because of back problems and subsequent difficulty walking. And they gave me a wonderful nurse to assist me, Mary Ann Pittman. She knows the Nursing home business from front to back and is so compassionate and loving toward the residents. My wife has also been a great help to me, she is now ‘my legs’ and I suspect she was glad to get me out of the house.”
