The Cubs got a great pitching performance from Kyle Hendricks to beat the Phillies 4-1.
Hendricks pitched his first career complete game giving up 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 7. The win now moves Hendricks to 3-4 on the season. Taking the loss for the Phillies was Jerad Eickhoff. The Olney Community College Graduate from Evansville, gave up 4 runs on 8 hits over 6 innings while striking out 7.
The Cubs didn’t wait long to get the offense going as Dexter Fowler homered in the first, followed by an RBI double by Zobrist to make it 2-0. In the second Russell scored on a Jason Heyward double to make it 3-0. Montero had an RBI in the sixth to make it 4-0. The Phillies scored on a wild pitch in the ninth to make it 4-1.
