The Cardinals used a big 5 run third inning to help lead them to victory, 6-2 over the Nationals.
The Cardinals were led on offense by Stephen Piscotty. Piscotty had a Grand Slam in the third. The Cardinals also got a home run from Greg Garcia and an RBI from Holiday.
The Cardinals got on the board first with a Matt Holiday bases loaded walk in the third. The next batter was Piscotty who hit a Grand Slam that gave the Cardinals a 5-0 lead. Washington came back with an Espinosa home run in the fifth and a Zimmerman RBI in the sixth to make the game 5-2. Greg Garcia put the game away with a solo home run in the eighth to give the Cardinals the 6-2 win.
Jaime Garcia got the win, making him 4-4 on the year. He gave up two runs on seven hits through seven innings. Max Scherzer got the loss falling to 5-4 on the year. Scherzer gave up five runs on three hits over seven innings. Scherzer struck out six but also walked four.
