The Effingham Flaming Hearts baseball team is 12-5 on the season after dropping two games Saturday to Mt. Zion. Effingham fell to the Braves by scores of 6-2 and 7-5. With the two losses Effingham’s conference record is now 3-3.
The Hearts picked up their 12th win of the season Friday in a 13-2 win Friday over Casey Westfield. Effingham trailed 2-0 before ever having an at-bat. The Hearts scored on run in the bottom of the first before a scoreless 2nd. Effingham’s bats came alive after that though, scoring six runs in both the 3rd and 4th inning. Brett Koester was the winning pitcher, striking out seven over three innings. Koester also scored three runs in the game. Mason Hull and Hudson Graham each had three RBIs for Effingham, with Brent Beals knocking in two.
