The Effingham Flaming Hearts swept a double-header over the weekend with Mattoon. Effingham won the first game 4-1. Brent Beals was the winning pitcher, giving up one run in 3 and 1/3 innings. Beals also had four hits in the game. Lane Koenig pitched 3 and 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in relief. Michael Woltman went 3-3 at the plate.
In the second game Effingham won 6-5. Colby Utz pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen to pick up the win. Effingham scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th to come back from a 5-3 deficit.
