Last week Lola White, the administrator at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, pleaded guilty to stealing from a resident at the center. The Illinois State Police has since announced that the amount of money stolen was $93,632. The 53-year-old White was charged with Class 3 Felony Theft for the misappropriation of funds from the victim’s trust account and life insurance account.
With her guilty plea, she received two years of second chance probation, must pay $1,367 in fines, and must complete 30 hours of community service.
White has made full restitution to the victim of the theft.
This conviction comes on the heels of the state of Illinois increasing efforts against health care based fraud.
“The people of Illinois deserve protection from waste and fraud,” said Governor Bruce Rauner. “Those who cheat our state, especially by exploiting our most vulnerable, deserve to face punishment. ISP Medicaid Fraud Control Bureau has worked diligently throughout this investigation to seek justice for taxpayers.”
