Lawmakers backing of a plan to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana are taking some suggestions from Governor Rauner in the hope of getting the rewritten bill approved. The revised bill incorporates Rauner’s suggestion to reduce the amount of marijuana that warrants a criminal charge to 10 grams instead of the 15 gram limit in the original bill. The new bill also includes Rauner’s call to raise the fines for minor possession and to reduce the amount of the drug a driver can have in his or her system before a DUI charge is warranted.
