The Teutopolis Lady Shoes reached the state championship with the 45-43 win over St. Joseph Friday night, and now the boys team is one step closer. The Wooden Shoes beat Marshall 58-50 to claim the Class 2A Regional title. Teutopolis led 28-15 at the half, but Marshall was able to claw back and get within one point at 51-50 late in the fourth quarter. Teutopolis then scored the game’s final seven points on their way to the win. Brett Mette had 16 for the Shoes. Marshall’s Josiah Wallace had a game high 26. The Shoes are now heading to the Flora Sectional, where they will face Mt. Carmel on Monday. The Regional title was Teutopolis’ seventh in a row.
The St. Anthony Bulldogs also won a Regional title Friday. The Bulldogs won the Nokomis Regional with their 55-38 win over Nokomis. The game was tied at nine after one quarter, and saw St. Anthony with a 21-16 lead at the half. The Bulldogs added to their lead from there, outscoring Nokomis 34-22 in the second half. St. Anthony was led by Nick Grunloh and Drew Gibson, who each scored 17. St. Anthony will play Dieterich on Wednesday in the Class 1A Red Hill Sectional.
In other Regional action, Patoka topped Altamont 65-63 to win the Class 1A St. Elmo Regional. Patoka was led by Jared Cain’s 27 points. Garret Belcher also had 18 for the Warriors. Altamont’s leading scorer was Adam Mayhaus, who had 20. Altamont’s season ends with a record of 22-6. Patoka will be in action at the Class 1A Red Hill Sectional next week.

Taylorville 78 Effingham 72 The Hearts fell to Taylorville in their regular season finale. Effingham trailed 41-32 at the half, and 59-47 heading into the fourth quarter. The Hearts were able to draw close in the fourth quarter, but could not overcome the early deficit. Effingham’s Grant Wolfe scored 27 points in the game, and topped the 1,000 point mark for his career. The Heart’s finish the regular season at 19-8 overall and 9-1 in the Apollo Conference. Effingham was the conference’s outright champion. The Hearts will face Olney on Wednesday in the Class 3A Mattoon Regional.
