A 55-year-old Lawrenceville man is facing first degree attempted muder charges after shooting a police officer earlier this week.
Keith McKinney was pulled over by Lawrence County Deputy Kyle Gilmore. After being pulled over McKinney pulled a handgun and shot Deputy Gilmore in the cest. The bullet was stopped by the body armor worn by Glimore, who returned fire, striking McKinney in the leg.
McKinney remains hospitalized in Evansville. Upon his release from the hospital he will be brought to the Lawrence County Jail, where his will be held on $2 million bond.
