The Dieterich Board of Education has discussed a proposal from the Village of Dieterich regarding the TIF District extension and possible revenue sharing with the District. The Village made a proposal to share revenue from video gaming and the Verizon tower lease to assist the District with decreasing revenues. Dieterich Unit #30 has seen steadily decreasing revenues due to the lack of funding from the state. The District has taken many steps to decrease the budget, but there are concerns that any further cuts would result in a decreased quality of education for Dieterich students. The Board will take action once a formal agreement is developed.
The Board also gave formal approval to begin developing the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget. The tentative budget will put together by Superintendent Cary Jackson, and presented to the Board in August.
In other action, Elementary Principal Kathy Pattenaude and Jr.-Sr. High Principal Kevin Haarman were rehired for the 2016-2017 school year.
