The Cumberland Pirates bounced back from last weeks loss to Oblong with a 78-41 win Tuesday over Hutsonville-Palestine. The Pirates jumped out to an 18-10 lead after one quarter, and added to that lead with each remaining quarter. Cumberland struggled hanging on to the basketball, with 21 turnovers in the game. The Pirates defense was able to make up for it though, forcing 26 turnovers.
Five Cumberland players were in double figures. Gunner McMechan had a team high 16 points, while Brandon Shaon had 15, Tyson Magee and Trevor Beard each had 13, and Sam Bauguss had 10.
Cumberland improved to 14-10 with the win. The Pirates are on the road Friday against Georgetown LaSalette.
