The Effingham County Legislative Committee met Monday where they learned of a plan being considered to create a county government stand or informational booth at the county fair. Fair Board President Phil Hartke spoke to the committee about the idea. The booth would contain various information about the county. This could include mapping and geographical information and details on how the county’s resident’s tax dollars are spent. It was also discussed to have various county officials operate the booth each day. The committee showed support for the idea, but expressed the need for the booth to remain nonpartisan. The plan will be brought before the full board at a future meeting. In the meantime, the Legislative Committee will reach out to county’s department heads to gauge interest in being present at the booth if the plan moves forward.
