The United Way of Effingham County met Monday night for their annual meeting. At the meeting it was announced that their 2015 fundraising campaign had been a success. The United Way of Effingham County set a goal of $300,000. That goal was met and exceeded, as $329,910 was raised. The money raised will be used to support 22 local partner agencies.
With the 2015 campaign over, the United Way will begin working for the current year. The United Way welcomed new Board members Ashley Buehnerkemper, Denise Walk, Ashley Campos, and Marty Watson. Current board members Mel Stock, Shanta Will, and Roy Shelley will also stay on for another term. Additionally, Ross Richardson was named President for 2016, while Peggy Valenti was named Vice President. Kelsey Goeckner was named 2016 Campaign Chair.
Spirit of Caring awards were also handed out at the meeting. Trent Schmidt was named Outstanding Volunteer; Patterson Technology was named Outstanding Organization; and Cheryl Pruemer was named Outstanding Board Member.
