The Illini continue to have a tough time finding wins in the Big Ten. Illinois hosted Wisconsin Sunday, falling to the Badgers 63-55.
Illinois led for much of the first half, but the offense went cold and allowed Wisconsin to get back into the game. The Badgers took a 33-28 lead into the half, and led by as much as 10 in the second half. The Illini got within five with a minute to play, but couldn’t repeat Thursday’s late run against Ohio State to force overtime.
Nigel Hayes led Wisconsin with 17 points. Malcolm Hill had 22 for the Illini.
Kendrick Nunn and Michael Finke both left the game in the second half with injuries, though Nunn would later return.
With the loss Illinois is now 10-12 on the season and 2-7 in the conference. Wisconsin improved to 13-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference.
