A bomb threat Thursday morning at Parkland College in Champaign force the campus to evacuate. The evacuation occurred at approximately 10:20am. All classes for the day were cancelled as well.
As a result of the evacuation, Parkland Child Development Center patrons were relocated to Champaign Park District’s Eisner Park.
The Champaign County Sheriffs’ Department’s bomb-detecting dog was used to check the campus, with additional resources being deployed from the Secretary of State’s office and the City of Decatur. No bomb was found, and campus will reopen on Friday at 6:00am. Normal class schedule and activities will resume as well.
The threat was made in an online post on reddit, but has since been deleted. An investigation is underway to identify who made the threat.
