The Kansas City Royals are World Series champions for the first time in 30 years. Christian Colon’s go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 12th helped give the Royals a 7-2 win over the Mets in Game Five in New York. Colon’s hit came in his first at-bat of the playoffs. Lorenzo Cain laced a three-run double in the 12th for Kansas City, which scored twice in the ninth inning to tie the game. Luke Hochevar tossed two scoreless innings to earn the win. Matt Harvey pitched eight scoreless innings before giving up two runs in the ninth.
