The Effingham City Police Department is investigating numerous burglaries from residences and vehicles that occurred recently. The burglaries being investigated are as follows:
A home and a vehicle in the 1000th block of Oceola Street were burglarized sometime between midnight and 3:00am on Sunday. Two purses valued at a combined $1250 were stolen, along with seven credit cards, two checkbooks, three driver’s licenses, two sets of keys, and an undetermined amount of cash.
A second residential burglary is being investigated, occurring sometime between sometime between August 2nd and August 27th. A bicycle valued at $140, a $50 bag of tools, and a Nintendo Wii system, along with games and accessories valued at more than $830 were stolen/ from a residence in the 100 block of Santa Maria.
Four additional burglaries from motor vehicles are under investigation. A burglary occurred from a motor vehicle parked in the 600 block of Clinton Avenue sometime between 10:00pm Friday and 7:00am Saturday. A key valued at $200 and an urn were stolen. The urn was later recovered.
Two wallets, a driver’s license, and an undetermined amount of cash were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of East Evergreen Avenue sometime between 11:00pm Saturday and 1:13pm Sunday. In another incident, a wallet and its contents were stolen Sunday between midnight and 8:15pm from a vehicle in the 700 block of North Cleveland Street. Police are investigating a separate burglary from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of North Cleveland. This occurred Sunday between 8:00am and 12:30pm. A purse, social security card, driver’s license, an Ipod, and cash were stolen.
